I created a LED countdown display in Little Big Planet and here is my result:) I made it so it didnt have so much heat on the thermometer and I´m quite pleased with the result.
I’m not really aware of how everyone else is doing it but here is my own version of how to make a timer/countdown in Game Maker. This code works with version 6.1 to version 8; REGISTERED & PRO. I used v8 in this example. You should not encounter any problems with the code because you’re using a variable (‘global.time’). **NOTE** On the draw event, you DO NOT have to make the x and y positions the same as I did. You could also change it to “x+0,y+0″ or “x,y” to make it the position you made when creating the room but it won’t stay on screen when you have it in a moving room. I tested that, a long time ago. Here is the correct code for the whole object; obj_time: Create Event: execute code: global.time = 60 //Insert Time in seconds here. alarm[0] = 30 //Set alarm 0 for one second Alarm Event: execute code: global.time-=1 //decrase the time with one. alarm[0] = 30 //Do it all over again. Step Event: execute code: if not global.time = 0 then exit else show_message(‘Time Up!’) game_end() Draw Event: execute code: draw_set_font(font_time) //make sure you create a font draw_set_color(c_white) //color of the timer font draw_text(x+0,y+0,string(global.time)+’ ‘)
